Christmas Woodworking

With Linda Engelland

Boys and girls ages 6 – 12 who have taken Woodworking II  will make a wooden Christmas ornament using basic woodworking tools and wrap it as a gift. The ornaments make wonderful presents for family and friends!

The classes are taught by Linda Engelland who has a BS in education from The University of Texas and is an AMS Montessori certified teach. She has successfully taught woodworking to children for more than 15 years. Class size is 4 – 10 students. Each class is the same; please register your child for only one woodshop.

Art Class

With Karen Garrett

Instructor Karen Garrett teaches young children how to mix paints and brush techniques so they can apply paint to one 14” X 16” frame-worthy composition of their choice and create a finished masterpiece. This is an extremely fun and creative class. Children need to bring black and white and color copies of the picture they want to paint on the first day of class. Art supplies are provided.

Ballet, Creative Dance, Tap and Jazz

Instructor Crista Reuss Glover teaches basic dance techniques for ballet, creative dance, tap and jazz. Vincent James will return as class assistant. A Christmas demonstration will be held during the last class of the semester. Maximum class size is 16 students. Bricks 4 Kidz

These classes that offer an extraordinary experience for children are specifically designed so they can learn about letters, numbers, shapes and colors. Kids create exciting models using DUPLO bricks that allow them to build on a scale designed for their little hands.

Gymnastics

Boys and girls have fun working the areas of floor tumbling, balance beam and mini-trampoline. Some classes include cheerleading for students who would like it. All the classes mix in health, fitness and well-being information along with some humor.

LEGO American Robotics – Imagineers

Children explore the mechanical use of gears, pulleys, axles, motors and much more, while learning to visually follow and understand step-by-step construction manuals and basic mechanical properties of how things move and work. Working in small groups, our young LEGO builders’ dreams come to life.

LEGO American Robotics – Wild and Wacky Walkers

This class introduces students to LEGO mechanics and simple machines through lots of new projects, including climbing robots and robot dogs with animated eyes, mouth and tails. Student also can use gears and pulleys to build and battle a world of walking robots – and have the chance to be wilder and wackier than they ever imagined!

Ages 6 – 8

LEGO American Robotics – Junkyard Battle Royale

In this class, battle-bots evaluate the potential of a rough and dangerous area before moving in permanently. Experts need students to build a variety of unique robots with an awesome skill set, capable of driving over any junk or obstacle and overcoming any unfamiliar elements or elevation changes in this treacherous junkyard.

Ages 6 – 8

Little Birdies Golf Classes

Little Birdies Golf Academy introduces the historic and life-long game of golf to youth through lessons that teach the intricacies of the whole game, everything from the history of the game, to scoring, to the full swing, to putting and chipping – all while incorporating a whole lot of fun! Lessons are built on fundamental key character traits needed for the game of golf as well as life.

Music and Movement

Through a variety of music, children absorb basic elements of rhythm, melody and steady beat – all essential pre-reading skills. This class includes hands-on activities such as marching bands, parades with colorful flags, parachute and bean bag activities, creative movement with flowing scarves and streamers, and fun with puppets, creative drama and musical games.

Soccer Shots

Soccer Shots is a uniquely designed program that introduces soccer to children in a fun, safe and controlled environment. Each week the 30 minute soccer sessions offer basic soccer skills, fun games, competitions and prizes for children. The program also emphasizes character-forming lessons such as respect, honesty, sharing, teamwork, patience and encouragement.

Spanish for Ninos

There are life-long advantages to be gained from early language learning – advantages that extend way beyond the gift of language alone. The curriculum for this class is designed to gradually incorporate new words and expressions, as it reinforces past vocabulary, placing an emphasis on auditory comprehension and oral expression.

Bruce Alamdari conducts these classes that focus on self-discipline, body control and self-defense. The fee includes belt testing; uniform must be purchased separately from the instructor. All classes are minimum 5 / maximum 15 participants. Advance registration is highly recommended

Children must have taken Carpentry II and must have instructor permission to attend this class.

5 – 6 p.m. Level II and Advanced Woodworking, 7 – 10 years
Children must have instructor permission to attend this class.

Pre-piano Lessons

Pre-piano music classes are especially designed to prepare children to learn the keyboard. These future musicians will learn rhythm, notes on the keyboard  and fingering. The class incorporates the use of musical games and “ just fun with the piano”.

Classes are available for children 3½ – 6 years of age.
