Honoring President Bush – Lying in Repose

The public is invited to pay their respects to President Bush as he lies in repose at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, in Houston, Texas, from Wednesday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. until Thursday, December 6, at 6:00 a.m. with a guard of honor in attendance.

Please read the following information:

  • Lines at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church are expected to be long.
  •  All public participants are subject to security searches. Allow ample time for security procedures.
  •  Protocol requires that cell phones and other electronic devices must be turned off upon entering the building.
  • Security requirements prohibit the following items from entering St. Martin’s Episcopal Church:
  •  Any bag larger than: 14” x 13” x 4”
  •  Any audio and/or video recording devices
  •  Guns, knives, stun guns, ammunition, razors, box cutters, or other weapons
  •  Mace, pepper spray, or any aerosol sprays
  •  Cans and bottles
  •  Food or beverages


The free shuttle service between Second Baptist Church and St. Martin’s will run continuously from 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5 to 5:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6.

To attend the public repose, visitors must go to Second Baptist Church, Houston, Texas (6400 Woodway) to board the free shuttles to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.

This shuttle is required for transportation to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, where there is no public parking.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: The Bush family respectfully request contributions to celebrate the life of President Bush be made to the George Bush Memorial Fund georgehwbush.com/memorial_fund.html. PLEASE NOTE:  The ceremonies at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Ellington Field, Spring and College Station, Texas, are closed to the public. All ceremonies will be televised.
