St. Clare’s Needlepoint Guild Sunday Group
August 26, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 1:00 pm on day Fourth of the month, repeating until October 27, 2019
Our purpose is to glorify God by bringing together stitchers of all ages and skill levels to beautify our parish, support St. Martin’s outreach programs and nurture the art of needlework in our members. We welcome stitchers of any skill level, and teach needlepoint from basic stitches to detailed and advanced work. Stitchers skilled in basketweave are needed to help with our ambitious project for the Chancel area that is designed as a lasting gift of seat cushions and kneelers for clergy, lay Eucharist ministers, chalice bearers and lay readers to enjoy during services. Inspired by the stained glass windows in our church, there are a total of 63 canvases in the project that include 24 seat cushion tops, 24 boxing strips to border the cushions and 15 kneelers. The Guild welcomes stitchers of any skill level and teaches needlepoint from basic stitches to detailed and advanced work.
We work year round stitching and finishing over 150 items to sell in St. Martin’s Bookstore & Gift Shoppe and Joy of Giving Market, while working on church projects and participating in outreach projects. We paint canvases, finish stitched canvases and take commissions. All sales are used to fund our church projects.
