Men of St. Martin’s consists of all men of the Parish. Guests and visitors are always welcome to Men of St. Martin’s events. These events include a weekly Bible study, Outreach and social events.

Join the Men of St. Martin’s to make sandwiches for hungry children. We make approximately 10,000 sandwiches annually that are delivered for lunch to preschool children living in poverty.

*Feb. 18 meeting will be in the Activity Center, Community Room

Life Lessons from Luke by Max Lucado

Intriguing questions, inspirational storytelling and profound reflections will bring God’s word to life for both individuals and small-group members. Each session includes a key passage of Scripture from both the NIV and NKJV, and the guides have been updated to include content from Max’s recent releases (2007 – 2016).

Spring 2020 Guest Speakers

Guest Speaker – Mark Lanier

Mark Lanier is an attorney, author, teacher, pastor and founder of the Lanier Theological Library. It is one of the nation’s largest theological collections and he teaches biblical literacy, weekly, to thousands. He is the organizer of the Christian Trial Lawyers Association. Mark graduated Texas Tech Law in 1984. With offices in Houston, New York, Los Angeles and Oklahoma City, he has earned international recognition setting record verdicts in courtrooms throughout the United States. The National Trial Lawyers Association has named him Trial Lawyer of the Year twice and he belongs to National Trial Lawyers’ Hall of Fame. The American Association of Justice honored him with its Lifetime Achievement Award and he was selected the 2018 Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year by The National Law Journal.

Guest Speaker – Terry Looper, author of Sacred Pace with Kris Bears

Terry is the CEO and Founder of Texon LP, a Houston-based energy company that was founded in 1989. Sacred Pace describes Terry’s journey from living for himself to living in God’s will, and offers a biblical framework for making large and small decisions in all phases of life. The Houston Chronicle named Texon one of the region’s “Top Work Places.” Terry and Doris, his wife of 50 years, have two married daughters and five grandchildren. With the success of Texon, they have been able to donate 50 percent of their income to mainly Christian organizations since 1998. His passion is to serve as a mentor to fellow business and nonprofit leaders.

Guest Speaker – The Rt. Rev. Mike Hill

The Rt. Rev. Mike Hill, the 44th Bishop of Bristol and Visiting Bishop, grew up in Manchester and northwest England. After a short career in the business world, he trained for Ordination at Ridley Hall and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. He became a Christian at the age of 18 and was ordained when he was 28. Bishop Hill served in parish ministry for 14 years before becoming Archdeacon of Berkshire and then Area Bishop of Buckingham in the Diocese of Oxford. He has a passion for mission and leadership in the Church and is known around the world for his teaching ministry.

Guest Speaker – “Judge” Ted Poe

Fighting Human Trafficking in Houston “Judge” Ted Poe served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 until January 2019. Yet his favorite title is Judge stemming back to the days when he served as a district judge in Harris County (1981-2003). In a 2007 article in The Washington D.C. Christian Chronicle, Poe talked about his deep roots in the Bammel Church of Christ and his love of the Old Testament that she shared as the teacher of an Adult Bible Class that started out being a 13-week study, but ran about five years. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University and a law degree from the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He and his wife, Carol, have four grown children.
