The Rev. Richard (Dick) Elwood returned to St. Martin’s in August 2020. He first came to St. Martin’s in 2000 as Director of Worship and he oversaw worship services including the worship booklet, acolytes, ushers and the Altar Guild. He helped prepare Parishioners to be ready to worship in The Church when it first opened in 2004. He retired from St. Martin’s in January 2005. He returned to St. Martin’s from 2011 to 2013 on a part-time basis and now will rejoin St. Martin’s later this spring. He was ordained in June 1966 and first served as Rector at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont from 1984-2000.

He has also served as the Rector of Christ Church in Tyler, and Church of the Good Shepherd in Kingwood. Rev. Elwood has also served as the Interim Rector at St. Barnabas in Fredericksburg, and Interim Rector of Grace Church in Llano. Other churches he has served include St. Francis’ in Houston, St. Peter’s in Kerrville and St. Thomas in San Antonio.
