The great occasion of Holy Baptism is a time of celebration for the child’s immediate family and friends. At St. Martin’s, we offer private ceremony times on Saturday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. or noon in The Church or on Sunday immediately following the 11:15 a.m. service, which has a tentative start time of 12: 30 p.m. In addition, if you attend the Family Table service on a regular basis, we also offer a public baptism ceremony that is done as part of the worship service.
Parents and godparents are to be instructed in the meaning of Baptism, in their duties to help the new Christians grow in the knowledge and love of God, and in their responsibilities as members of His Church. – The Book of Common Prayer
Prior to the scheduled baptism date, all first-time parents and godparents, as well as those who have completed the new member classes, are required to attend baptism instruction. The class is held the second Saturday of the month from 9 – 11 a.m. Child care may be reserved for the class for infants through pre-K.
